Helan Mountain equals Alashan

Alashan (Alxa) is located in the most western part of China’s Inner Mongolia, which contains tremendous mineral resources and is mainly covered with desert and semi-desert steppe."Helan Mountain" is the Madarin translation of Mongolian "Alxa", word meaning “colorful”. The golden Badain Jaran Desert, Tengger Desert and Ulaan Buhe Desert run through the Alashan region; the total desert area is 110,000 square kilometers (approximately 42,500 square miles). Within this vast sand sea,  with temperatures ranging from -40℃ to +60℃.  (-40F to +140F)  survival can be very difficult. 

China’s indigenous Alxa Bactrian (two-humped) camels are uniquely adapted to these surroundings.  Bactrian camels’ semi-wild travel and grazing patterns, and their unique abilities, help them to survive in harsh desert conditions. Alxa is known as the “Camel Hometown”, since one quarter of the world’s total population of Bactrian camels (and half of China’s Bactrian camel population) currently lives in Alxa.

The raw material of Alxa downy baby camel fiber is from the Alxa Bactrian “baby camel”  (under three years old).  After dozens of production procedures, the fineness of this baby camel downy fiber can reach 16 microns, which is almost equal to cashmere. The baby camel downy fiber is also known for its warm bright color, soft touch, and considerable length (45mm).   Alxa baby camel downy fiber has a tradition in Chinese history:  called “Royal Camel Fiber”, it was the imperial tribute paid by the nomadic peoples of Alxa to the Chinese emperors.   The robe and quilts of the Qing Dynasty’s  Kangxi Emperor (1654-1722) were filled with Alxa baby camel fiber.
